CALLE OCHO SPRING BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY SPECIAL

The north of England’s original and biggest multi-room salsa/kizomba/bachata party, now in it’s seventh year, stays ahead of the game by doing something new every season. This summer, we are hosting our first ever bank holiday Sunday session. The date is Sunday 28th May and as always since we started, we have another all-star UK salsa/bachata/kizomba line-up of DJs and danceteachers. No work Monday so leave the car at home and let’s have a proper midsummer dance party – good music + great people + rum = good times!

Salsa Room

Calle Ocho DJs Lubi, Fabio Bahia and Dr Salsa are joined by Midlands DJ don Johnnie Beatz. He’s resident weekly salsa DJ at Revolucion De Cuba Derby and guests across the Midlands and the north at all the best salsa parties. First time on the decks at Calle Ocho for Johnnie. He plays great salsa – Cuban, old school Colombian/Puerto Rican, New York salsa. A proper DJ 🙂

Music policy is salsa all styles (dura, clasica, nueva, romantica, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Colombian) plus a touch of mambo, son Cubano, timba and cha cha cha. Inclusive salsa for all dancers.

Guest dance teacher is London bachata king JUAN SOTO. The award winning bachata teacher/performer is in Yorkshire for the very first time and will take 2 pre-club bachata classes from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. Winner of the 2015 UK Bachata Open Championship, the man is great bachata dancer and also a fantastic salsa dancer (form an orderly queue ladies). Get down early. These classes will be packed.

Kizomba Room

Calle Ocho kizomba don Sean Wilson (Kizomba Manchester) is joined by one of Leeds’ favourite DJs Dico. Great to have our former resident kizomba DJ back with us for this bank holiday special. Dico always brings the fire to this always packed room which rocks to kizomba, semba, ghetto zouk, tarraxinha, afrobeats, kuduru and afro house.

Bachata Room

Back once again with the dedicated bachata room with our king and queen of bachata DJs Fabio Bahia and Jane Salsaldi. This time they’ll be joined by our Urban Latin resident DJ MrB who also plays great bachata. With Juan Soto in the house, you know this room will be PACKED from start to finish.

Latin Party Room

The tiny room near the main room stage is available for some bank holiday Latin party madness. We are not 100% decided whether to open it. If you love the Fabio Bahia/MrB/Lubi Revolucion De Cuba “Fiesta Latina” reggaeton/Latin house/dancehall/samba house vibe, let us know and if there’s enough response to pack 40-50 people in, we’ll open it. Would be a shame not to have some “Shaky Shaky Shaky” action for this big summer party 🙂
