Salseros, it’s been months since our last Calle Ocho/Viva La Musica live salsa concert in Leeds – October 2015 to be exact – so we have decided to do one big live summer salsa concert this year.

We are proud to announce the return of the mighty SALSEOLOGY, the UK’s top hard salsa band from London, back to Leeds for the first time since October 2015!!! If you were at that gig, you will remember they blew the roof off the venue with dancers even describing the gig as good as our previous Tromboranga and La Excelencia gigs. High praise indeed but it was a firing show.

Formed back in 2011 by London based US pianist Darius Johnson, the 12 piece band play pure salsa dura/hard salsa imnspired by their 1970s New York salsa heroes like Ray Barretto, Willie Colon, Hector LaVoe, Tito Puente and the Fania Allstars. Playing mainly salsa dura witha touch of mambo, salsa romantica and cha cha cha, they have become the UK salsa dancers’ favourite band. Now featuring an almost fully Latino line-up (bar pianist Darius and London timbales legend Jimmy Le M), they have the finest Latin/salsa musicians in the UK in their midst.

To keep the party rocking all night long. Calle Ocho DJs Lubi & Fabio Bahia plus guest salsa DJ Philip Charles will be warming up before the live show and keep the dancefloor full up to our 3am curfew.

Opening the night we have Philip Charles teaching an improvers-to-intermediates level salsa dance class. Philip is of course the popular resident salsa dance teacher every Tuesday at DJ Lubi’s weekly salsa party at Revolucion De Cuba Leeds. Class starts promptly at 9pm.
