At last, we’re back!

Calle Ocho Leeds and Kizomba Manchester are proud to announce the return of their big Luso-Brasil party at The Faversham Leeds on Saturday 29th June.

Welcome to LUSOFONICA II

After last summer’s successful event, we planned to do more Lusofonica events but both promoters and all our DJs were so busy with other events/DJ bookings, we never made it happen. Now, finally in summer 2019, we’ve found the time and space to put together another great Luso-Brasil party at the home of Calle Ocho Leeds – The Faversham – with a great northern all-stars special and with support from our friends at JN Eventos.

Just a quick explanation of the name Lusofonica.

Lusophone (or Lusofone) is the term used to describe the people and countries across the world who speak Portuguese. In our case, we celebrate the music and dance from the African Lusophone countries (Angola, Mozambique, Cabo Verde, São Tomé & Principe, Guinea-Bissau) plus the South American giant Brazil and of course, Portugal. So Lusofonica II celebrates the music and dance of Lusofone countries worldwide.

Here’s the line-up.

ROOM ONE : KIZOMBA/TARRAXINHA/SEMBA/GHETTO ZOUK/RETRO ZOUK (8.30pm classes, party 10.30pm-4.30am)

Early doors we have 2 Afro dance classes by top dance teachers of the north starting at 8.30pm.
8.30pm – kizomba with Eudora Okoro Andrew from Kizomba Liverpool
9.30pm – semba with Real Feel Dance Festival promoters/teachers Bruno & Iulia

The party starts in the main room at 10.30pm and features the sounds of kizomba, semba, ghetto zouk, tarraxinha, retro zouk, Afro-zouk and funana. This room is hosted DJ SEAN WILSON (Kizomba Manchester), DJ DICO (Kizomba Leeds), DJ PUX (Kizomba Leeds) plus guest DJ MANGOLE. An all-star line-up of the finest DJs in the north who play regularly across the UK and beyond.

ROOM TWO : BRAZILIAN BEATS/BAILE FUNK X AFROHOUSE/AFROBEATS (opens 11.00pm-4.30am)

The middle room is the party room. First up, the north’s favourite/best known Brazilian music DJ FABIO BAHIA, resident DJ at Calle Ocho Leeds since 2010, resident DJ at Revolucion De Cuba Leeds since 2015 and Brazilian music boss of the north for 22 years, He’s bringing the Rio Carnival vibes with samba, batucada, baile funk, samba house and reggaeton from 10.30pm-1.30am.

Then Manchester Afro-kings DJ MANGOLE and DJ MR JUU take over the decks with 100% Afro-house, Afrobeats and kuduro mixed with baile funk, reggaeton and dancehall. Both are favourites at Calle Ocho Leeds and their final hour sets in the back room have become legendary! This room is going off for sure!

No advance tickets. Just pay on the door. Please take note of the last entrance time. We have to be strict on this due to recent noise complaints to the council from residents in the area.
