THE SUNDAY JOINT PRESENTS: NECKTR + BOOK

Necktr are a 9 piece soul fusion/global beats band who formed in Leeds a few years ago to bring together elements of hip-hop, afrobeat, soul and jazz creating compositions that provide an exciting twist on contemporary songwriting. Their sound explores a wealth of textures and soundscapes as they weave between captivating grooves and anthemic choruses.

After building up a local following in Leeds, their reputation has spread UK wide following releases on London’s much respected Wormfood Records (“Something Happening” EP 2018, “Cold Water” single 2019) plus live appearances alongside the likes of Gilles Peterson, Nubiyan Twist, Snazzback, Nubya Garcia, Afriquoi and K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade. They’ve rocked stages at Jazz Café in London, as well as festivals such as The Great Escape, Mostly Funk & Soul and Boomtown in Summer 2019. Tonight is their first show of 2020 featuring the new line-up and compositions, warming up for the following weekend’s London REMIXED Festival at Rich Mix.

Book are one of Leeds College Of Music’s most exciting contemporary jazz units right now. The trio (keys, bass guitar, drums) fuse jazz improvisations with infectious grooves, polyrhythmic beats and rock energy that will have even the most geeky jazz nerd up on their feet dancing.

Doors 8.00pm. Live music 8.45pm and 10.00pm. DJ Lubi before and between sets and Sunday Joint DJs after the live music until late. Entry is as always FREE.
