The Sunday Joint x RE:SOUL x Pieces of a Man x Wise Willis
Tonight, the Sunday Joint is linking up with Leeds’ premier jazz/neo-soul/hip-hop showcase RE:SOUL for a special takeover. Hosted by longtime Leeds jazz/soul/global beats DJ/promoter Lubi Jovanovic (DIG Family/Soul Rebels Sessions), RE:SOUL has featured debut/early shows for many of today’s young bands (Tetes De Pois, Necktr, Freese Trio, Mali Hayes, Slow Loris, Dulahli, Garde Dog, New Position, Glass Cage Experiment, Wise Willis, Vanessa Jamie, Project Hilts, Narcle). We’ve asked Lubi to curate this evening’s takeover plus spin a few tracks around the live band sets before our resident DJs hit the decks at 11pm.
Headliners Pieces of a Man take their name from the famous Gil Scott Heron song and are part of the vibrant Manchester hip-hop/neo-soul scene which includes Children Of Zeus, IAMDBB, LayFullStop, Mali Hayes, The Mouse Outfit and KSR. Recently signed to Tru Thoughts Records, their debut single for the label “Nothing To Lose” just dropped as a taster for the album coming soon produced by Zed Bias. It features special guests like Tyler Daley (Children Of Zeus), Harleighblu and Detroit ghetto soul don Amp Fiddler. This 6 piece soul collective join the dots between classic deep soul and today’s beats heavy street-soul vibes.
Support comes from Leeds College Of Music young soul rebels Wise Willis who over the last 18 months have built up a solid following in the city for their contemporary jazz/neo-soul original music. With A-list musicians and great guest singers, they always bring fire to the party.
