For Calle Ocho Leeds’ Spring Bank Holiday Sunday Party we have a real treat for everyone – salseros, bachateros, kizombeiros and reggaetoneros.

In the main room, we are bringing one of the best international salsa DJs today to Leeds for an exclusive UK show and launching his new salsa/bachata compilation at our party. In the kizomba room, we have the Calle Ocho debut of one of the north east’s top kizomba DJs. And because it’s a bank holiday the next day and no work, we’re bringing back our 100% fuego reggaeton/Latin party room with a special new young Cuban DJ. As always, our allstar Calle Ocho DJ team is in place in all 3 rooms so you know this one’s going off as always.

SALSA ROOM

We are proud to announce our special guest international DJ is none other than FABRIZIO ZORRO from Italy, a top DJ and also director/producer of the hottest band in salsa today, La Maxima 79 who made their UK debut earlier this year for Calle Ocho Leeds.

One of the busiest and best salsa DJs in Italy (he works 4-5 nights a week there), he has been an international congress DJ now for 15 years as well as a music journalist and producer for the www.salsa.it website and label. Since 2013, he has been leading La Maxima 79, writing/producing all their albums and singles as well as producing music for other Italian salsa and bachata artists (Johnny Vasquez, Ira Oyale Sextet, Pablo y su Timba Calle, Urbana 22).and releasing music via his Abanico and Smayra Publishing record labels. He is in Leeds promoting his brand new killer salsa/bachata compilation “iLatin” which was released in April (available NOW on iTunes). The man is a master DJ who covers ALL bases equally…..salsa old and new, Cuban salsa, mambo, guaguanco and bachata. We are super happy that he’s joining us on this special party.

On the decks alongside Fabrizio are the usual Calle Ocho Leeds A-Team of salsa DJs…..DJ Lubi, Fabio Bahia and Dr Salsa, and all four will be playing a great inclusive mix of salsa, Cuban music, mambo and bachata for all dancers.
This room opens at 10pm and rocks to 4am.

***salsa dance classes with PHILIP CHARLES (RDC Leeds)***
We are happy to announce the first ever Calle Ocho Leeds salsa dance classes from local hero Philip Charles. He is of course weekly resident dance teacher at Revolucion De Cuba Leeds’ “Salsa Social” session, now over 2.5 years old. He’s been dancing for 10+ years and teaching for 7 of them, in Leeds and across the north of England. Much liked as a teacher, his classes are always well attended and appreciated by all levels of dancers. Classes start 8.00pm.

KIZOMBA ROOM

Our resident DJ Sean Wilson (Kizomba Manchester), the busiest kizomba/afrobeats promoter and DJ in the north, is joined this time for the first time at Calle Ocho by another of the north’s best kizomba DJs, DJ Pux. He’s a master of kizomba, afro-house, kuduro, semba, funana, zouk and tarraxinha and king of the mix. He’s also well known in Leeds as a resident DJ at the popular weekly Kizomba Fridays hosted by our friend Brendan NCube. This room opens at 11pm sharp.

REGGAETON/BRAZILIAN/LATIN PARTY ROOM

It’s Bank Holiday Sunday. No work on Monday. Let’s rock out to some booty-shaking reggaeton, dembow, merengue electronico, baile funke and urban Latin beats. Our resident DJ MrB (also resident DJ at Revolution De Cuba Leeds) is joined on the decks for a debut Calle Ocho set by Cuban king DJ Libre (aka Ale). He’s played reggaeton/Latin beats at Casa Colombiana and house/hip-hop/r’n’b at SoBa as well as guesting at Revolution De Cuba Leeds Fiesta Latina. Another great mixer, he and MrB will be rocking the Latin party vibes “dura” style from 12 midnight to 4am!

We will confirm the dance classes soon and update this Facebook event. For now book the date in the diary for another awesome Calle Ocho Leeds at The Faversham…..7.5 years now and still banging 🙂
