RE:SOUL 030

After a brilliant 2018 and a well deserved Christmas break, RE:SOUL hits the ground running for 2019 with Session 030 at The Wardrobe Bar on Monday 28th January. We’re back with Leeds’ premier jazz/hip-hop/soul live music session featuring the kicking house band and jam plus lots more bands/artists from a very talented new generation at Leeds College Of Music.

Guest act this time are Wise Willis, another great new band from the current vibrant Leeds College Of Music scene. Featuring Rob McNicholas on guitar, Ozzie Parker on keys, Joshua Williams on bass and Tim Burtenshaw on drums, they play original funk/soul/jazz based material which features some of the best guest vocalists currently at the college. They’re starting to make a buzz in Leeds right now so get down 9pm to catch their showcase set.

The all-star RE:SOUL band take the stage as usual at 10pm for the jam session. Featuring Harry Fowler (tenor sax/MD), Martin Longhorn (keys), Malik Morgan Murphy (electric bass), Joe Whettam (guitar) and Theo Goss (drums), they’ve really come together last autumn as a great band who can handle any genres we cover….jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop.

Any musicians, singers, MCs wanting to sit in, hit us a direct message to our page or contact musical director Harry Fowler via his personal Facebook page. You know the score. We post a list of potential jam tunes in this event and on our page in the next few weeks. If you want to perform an original or even a specific cover, pass it by Harry and he’ll see if the house band can learn them in time. Only guidance we give is that they are in the RE:SOUL vibe….deep soul, neo-soul, jazzy hip-hop beats, groove based jazz (as opposed to swing based jazz).
